At B.I.G. British International School we believe in developing all aspects of the child: we help our students understand the world beyond them, and we teach them the importance of empathy and taking care of others.
With this purpose in mind, since the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year in September our students have stepped up and collected donations for more than one charity, keeping B.I.G’s name high in the sky.
Here’s a recap of our initiatives so far.
Italian Red Cross
Together with our B.I.G. sister schools, we have collected hundreds of essential goods in honour of World Food Day: all donations were later picked up by the Italian Red Cross, who will use them to help local families and individuals in need. Volunteers were simply overwhelmed by our families’ generosity, thanking our students over and over again!
WWF
Just before our half-term holiday, our students dressed up as their favourite animal (or wore wildlife-inspired clothes) to celebrate WWF’s worldwide Wear It Wild event and help raise awareness on endangered species: oh, what a fun day it was! On top of dressing up, staff and families kindly brought an open donation to contribute to the long-distance adoption, through WWF, of a wild endangered animal: the species, a seal, was democratically chosen amongst students and revealed during our weekly assembly!
Save the Children
But that’s not all. During our Christmas Concert on December 19th, we have collected open donations for Save the Children, giving our community the chance to fully embrace the spirit of the season. Our contribution will now help support their mission worldwide: what a perfect, caring way to end our first term of school!
